Spring Holiday & Staff In-Service 2018

Spring Holiday & Staff In-Service
Thursday, Friday & Monday, March 29th, 30th & April 2nd

Kinder Works is closed on Thursday, March 29th, for our Annual Staff In-Service Day.  We are closed on Friday, March 30th & Monday, April 2nd for the Spring Holiday.

We hope you enjoy your long weekend!

“Lucky” the Leprechaun 2018

“Lucky” the Leprechaun Visits
Thursday & Friday, March 15th & 16th

Around St. Patrick’s Day each year, Lucky the Leprechaun travels from his home in Ireland, or ‘The Emerald Isle,’ all the way to Kinder Works!  He tries to trick us with “upside down antics” and leaves a glittery shamrock trail throughout our school.  We’ll find out if this shimmery path leads to his treasured pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

Pajama Days!

Pajama Days
Thursday & Friday, February 22nd & 23rd

Wear your warmest pajamas to school on Thursday and Friday, February 22 and 23!  It’s the end of our “To Infinity and Beyond” theme, so on these two days we’ll have so much fun playing in our pajamas!

Perhaps we’ll enjoy some out-of-this-world movies (Toy Story with Buzz? Or WALL-ELilo & Stitch?); and we can turn off the lights and star-gaze (on the ceiling)… all in our pajamas!  Please keep in mind the weather and layer appropriately if needed.  Also, please leave the slippers at home so that we can play safely at school!

Hurricane Relief Update – Thank You!

Hurricane Relief… because being kinder works.

       Dear Parents,

Thanks to YOUR thoughtfulness and generosity, we collected a total of $4,210.24 and sent water, diapers, wipes, batteries and more to the distressed U.S. V. I. (some areas still don’t have electricity as we write this… which means no running water among other things…)!  It was interesting to witness how difficult it was to get all of the donations delivered!  We were able to piggy-back with a local church that was sending a container to the islands.  They finally got it to port and into the right hands.

THANK YOU from many island people for your help!

Valentine Celebrations

Valentine’s Day Celebrations
Tuesday & Wednesday, February 13th & 14th

Valentine’s Day provides an “EQ” opportunity to express appreciation for the friends and family that we love. On February 13th and 14th, we will enjoy Valentine’s Day stories and songs of love, dancing with our friends, and special valentine-themed arts and crafts!

To participate in the Valentine’s Day card exchange, please send in 36 cards for Preschool/Kindergarten, or 24 cards for Toddlers, signed with only your child’s name. (Please do not address cards to specific children so that your child can hand out his/her own cards. Sun Bears will be asked to address their Valentines as a homework assignment.) Please send the cards in a bag labeled with your child’s name, and give the bag to your child’s teacher. Thank you!

Please note that our school Directors do not have access to your fiscal information, and all such inquiries and requests should go directly to our Fiscal Office. Thank you!

Winter Weather Procedures

Foul Weather Procedures

dji_udc_snowmanbdr_c      Kinder Works usually follows Spring-Ford Area School District closings, which are announced on major radio and news stations.  (The closing number for Spring-Ford is 308.)  Delays and closings will be emailed and mass-texted.

For a 1 hour delay, Kinder Works will open at 8:00 AM.  For a 2 hour delay, Kinder Works will open at 9:00 AM.  Should the school need to close in the middle of the day, Kinder Works will send an email and mass text message to our families. If there is an emergency that requires us to move the children from the school, we will include the alternate pick-up location.

If Kinder Works is going to deviate from the above procedure, you will receive an email, mass text, and/or phone call specifying our actions.

Mittens A Note About Outside Play

We go outside to play, even in the Winter!  We stay healthy by getting natural sunlight through our eyes and a little on our faces, not to mention the benefits of breathing fresh air.  Please be sure that your children come to Kinder Works dressed for the weather, wearing hats, gloves, etc.  Also, please clearly label all coats, hats, mittens, and extra clothes with your child’s name.  Of course, if it is too cold, we stay indoors for musical and physical fun.  Thank you!

Santa Sighting at Kinder Works!

kw-santa-bearSanta Sighting
Tuesday, December 12th

Skip the lines at the Mall; the REAL Santa Claus is coming to Kinder Works!  Santa will arrive at 4:30PM on Tuesday, December 12th to visit all of our good little girls and boys.

Your family is invited to stop in for a visit during your regular pick-up time, between 4:30-6:30PM.  For AM and Mon-Wed-Friday families, please stop in to visit Santa between 5:30 and 6:30.

All children are welcome to visit with Santa while his “little elves” photograph this precious childhood memory.  Pictures will be framed and given to you the following week, so no need to wait for printing!  Families can also enjoy a light snack buffet, decorate a cookie, and take home a special gift!

The Giving Tree

The “Giving Tree”
November 27th – December 15th

The “Giving Tree” is a beautiful holiday tradition that we celebrate at Kinder Works.  Each year we decorate a tree with paper ornaments; each ornament bears the name and age of a local needy child.  Your child can choose one of these ornaments and become a “Secret Santa” for that child.

Visit our “Giving Tree” to choose an ornament with your child early in December.  Please return your gift in a gift bag, with the ornament as its tag, by placing it under the tree on or before December 15th.

Watching your child thoughtfully pick out a gift for a child in need will warm your heart!
